NEW WAVE Future Voices in Art – a series of artist portraits
A conversation with the artists about the way they work, the materiality of their thoughts and the type of sources that inform their work.
The exhibition NEW WAVE Future Voices in Art, curated by Zineb Seghrouchni, brings together artists who work from the intersections of cultures, histories and everyday life. Rather than starting from grand narratives, their practices emerge from personal experience, material research and the networks of family, migration and community that shape the present.
The artist portraits offer an intimate entry into these practices. Each film dives into the artists’ materials, influences and ways of thinking, revealing how global systems (of fashion, technology, trade and identity) are embedded in the textures of daily life.
What binds the artists is not a shared style, but a shared position: working in-between worlds. From these in-between spaces, they challenge dominant Western perspectives and make room for multiple ways of knowing and making.
Together, the films form a constellation of voices that show how the personal and the political, the local and the global, are deeply intertwined.
